Horse-Feathers and Frills!! Wedding at Marybrooke

December 27th, 2011

An incredibly beautiful and wonderful wedding that any little girl would dream of having one day – it all came true for Sarah & Damien!

First, there was the dreamy dress, then the flowers, and the bridesmaids, Sarah’s Mum’s wonderful house, and THEN ……the horse and carriage – complete with footmen/ladies and feathers ala cinderella!!

Marybrooke was the perfect castle setting for this fairytale wedding. We had a fantastic time with Sarah and Damine’s photos – we could have kept going forever, there was so much to see.

But I think my favourite part was when the celebrant mentioned Damien’s funny little habit of putting Sarah’s name into every song he sings. So sweet.

Thank you, Sarah & Damien, for letting us share this fairytale wedding with you.

Pretty as a Picture!! Matthew & Michelle’s Wedding in The Yarra Valley & The Vines Restaurant at Helen’s Hill

December 16th, 2011

Pretty pink peonies, vintage cars, an old railway station and  fun bridal party make for great photos!

The weather was sunny for Matthew & Michelle’s wedding – after a long spell of rainy weddings, it was fantastic to see some blue skies.

Michelle looked like an angel in her light pleated chiffon wedding gown, as though it was designed especially for her. Her bridesmaids had the hottest dresses out – metallic oyster coloured bridesmaids dresses, with a gorgeous ruffle over one shoulder.

Michelle planned a vintage theme for the day, and with the beautiful church in Lilydale and vintage cars, everything tied in perfectly. After the ceremony, we headed off to an old train station in Yarra Glen for some photos, and then on to The Vines restaurant at Helen’s Hill Winery, in Coldstream. I brought an old suitcase and hat box for props, to tie in with the Vintage theme, which came in very handy!

Everyone was in such a great mood, the day just flew by and before we knew it, we were in the reception at The Vines, cutting the cake!

Thank you Michelle & Matt for letting us share this very lovely day with you!!

Classic Style in St Kilda! Ivan & Jennifer’s Wedding at Quat Quatta

November 25th, 2011

A wedding that combines a love of elegant style, architecture and landscape was on Jennifer and Ivan’s wish list. And wow, did it all come together is the most beautiful way possible!

Classic doesn’t have to mean completely traditional – Ivan’s best friend was his “Grooms-woman”, and the bridal party portraits were done before the ceremony, so the guests wouldn’t have to wait around between the ceremony and reception at Quat Quatta.

Jennifer’s stunning antique style wedding gown was by Gwendolynne , an amazing young Melbourne based fashion designer. It featured antique lace, freshwater pearls and swarovski crystals. Her parent’s house was the perfect setting for the antique style theme of the day. Both of their families were there to watch Ivan’s reaction when he saw Jennifer for the first time – the expression on his face was so wonderful!

We headed off to the the St. Kilda Botanical Gardens for out first photo location with the bridal party in one of Chistopher’s Triple A  Limousine’s fabulous vintage Dodge wedding  cars. Next it was off to St. Kilda Pier for beautiful dramatic images with the wind blowing and clouds moving in.

The rain held off at Quat Quatta long enough for the ceremony, where Ivan’s sister sang a beautiful song and Jennifer’s former  flute teacher played for them. It was very moving, and Jennifer couldn’t help but shed a tear, along with many of their guests.

Ivan & Jennifer’s wedding day was full of the things that are special and dear to them, and they shared it with their friends and family in a very lovely way.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your beautiful wedding, J and I!

The Sky is the Limit! Wedding at Eureka 89 bar, Eureka Tower

October 28th, 2011

Ganesh grafiitti wedding portrait

What a treat! Rebecca and Andrew chose the most amazing theme & venues for their wedding, we were really looking forward to their big day. I knew it would be fabulous!

Andrew romantically proposed to Rebecca on front of the Taj Mahal in India. So they wanted a “Bollywood meets Vintage” style feeling to their wedding. Rebecca chose wonderful hot fuchsia pinks and orange as her colour scheme.

The girls stayed at The Windsor Hotel in Melbourne, and we made the most of the ‘Vintage Melbourne’ feel of the hotel, with lovely portraits on the enormous staircase.

Soon we arrived at The Eureka Tower and headed straight up to Eureka 89, the bar on the floor above the Sky Deck. I have to admit I was feeling a little dizzy after that elevator ride up!

All of the guests were super excited – the room was buzzing. Eureka 89 is very glamorous and the views are spectacular!

Rebecca and Andrew’s ceremony was funny and sweet, with some wonderful stories about their adventures together.

We then headed off with the Bridal party down to Southbank and the Yarra River, and  Rebecca was surprised to see a boat named “Rebecca” floating under the Yarra bridge while we were taking portraits. The Paris End of Collins Street was next, then The Fitzroy Gardens and some classic Melbourne lane-ways. We even managed to inject a bit of Indian culture with some colourful graffiti artwork of Ganesh! Everything just came together beautifully.

The reception was at “Chapter House” in Flinder’s Lane, and the Peter Rowland catering group outdid themselves in creating a spectacularly lit room full of colourful lighting and elegant table settings.

Andrew and Rebecca created the perfect wedding setting where all of their guests were made to feel ‘first class’, but still relaxed and comfortable.

Congratulations, Andrew and Rebecca!

Walk Why Not? Glitz and Glamour Charity Gala Ball

August 28th, 2011

I was very honoured to be asked by Rod & Danielle Watson , one of our former wedding couples, to cover this wonderful event. After everything they have been through, I felt it was the least I could do. Danielle has been a very busy person, organising this event – Walk Why Not?  is a community fundraising partner of Spinal Cord Injuries Australia. You can view the SCI webite’s article on the event here.

Rod suffered a terrible spinal injury from a motorbike accident on his buck’s night and their wedding had to be postponed for 6 months to allow for Rod to recover enough to be able to stand  in a wheelchair for the ceremony.

Everything for the wedding was set to go ahead, then the next thing we knew, their wedding venue, Immerse of the Yarra Valley, was right in the middle of the terrible 2009 Victorian bushfires, just a couple of weeks before their wedding! The barn and a few buildings were lost completely, but the restaurant and some of the garden was fine. I couldn’t believe how lucky Immerse was not to lose everything. Katrina from Immerse was there at the ball and kindly donated prizes and wine for the evening.

Rod and Danielle’s wedding was the most emotional and happy wedding day I’ve ever been involved in. All of their friends and family were just so happy and grateful to be there, finally! They are the bravest and most inspiring people.

ART Flowers

August 20th, 2011

Well I did it! I actually got out on my own and took some personal photos. A freezing cold foggy morning, and I was walking on air, feeling so nostalgic for the days when there were no reasons for creating but the joy of it!

I went up to Cloudehill Gardens in Olinda, to look for inspiration, and was disappointed to see that everything was still dormant from winter. So heading back down the mountain I ended up stopping every few minutes to photograph the gorgeous spring magnolias & cherry blossom

These images are now available as fine art prints and canvases. To order, visit my ordering gallery  .

Hey, aren’t we trendy? Wedding Blogs go 1920′s too!

July 21st, 2011

Is the next big trend in Wedding Style going to be 1920′s inspired?

The Green Wedding Shoes wedding  blog has done a lovely post on 1920′s style weddings.

Since we did Melissa and Jeremy’s 1920′s style wedding, I’ve noticed a resurgence in all things 1920′s inspired.

We’ve done Gothic, Retro, Vintage, Pink, Hollywood, Steam Punk, Glam & 1950′s Rock’n'Roll so why not go back almost 100 years to the 1920′s! ?
