Interview with Megan

- How long have you been a photographer and how did you come to specialise in Wedding Photography? I started studying photography at 16 years old, by assisting a photographer who worked for Time and Who magazines. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do! BUT…. I never thought I’d be a wedding photographer! It wasn’t until I got married myself that I realised there was a real need out there for less traditional, more natural, relaxed and artistic wedding photography.
- Who are your clients exactly? They are creative, visual people, who want a wedding that reflects their idea of what a wedding should be, not just what is expected of them.
- How are you different from other wedding photographers? Understanding how a clients feels and what will help them to relax is very important to me. I have an ‘art-documentary’ style that captures every moment as you live it and remember it. Because of this, client receive their whole wedding story, not just ‘set up’ photos.
- What happens if you haven’t yet shot our type of wedding or venue? We shoot all types of wedding, from all cultures and backgrounds. People don’t come to us for an ‘average’ wedding. They want something more than that, so we’re up for the challenge, with 12 years in business! Every wedding we have is unique, and that’s what makes this job so much fun!
- What results can I expect? Your wedding photography will be easy and natural, and we will give you all of your images to share with your family and friends.
- Do people ever just get the DVD without an album? Yes!! We specialise in Digital Collections that include all the files, and lots of other great ways to share your wedding with friends and family.
- Do people still order albums these days? An album is an investment that will last for generations. All of our albums are custom made in leather with archival materials, for museum quality longevity. Our albums aren’t cheap, but those who buy them really appreciate the importance in their lives.
- My Uncle/friend said they’d do it for free, why should I hire you? Wedding photography is like guerrilla training for photographers. You have to wear many photographer’s hats in one day – portrait, landscape, lifestyle, fashion, photojournalism, fine art, architecture, automotive AND you have to organise and predict the day’s events, all while smiling and being nice to everyone. You also need backup equipment, insurance and a ‘plan B’ for unforeseen circumstances. I am accredited with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography so I abide by their code of ethics, and my clients are assured that I have had my business assessed and approved by them.
- How long is it before we see our photos? We do all of our retouching before you see your images, so it takes us 4-6 weeks.
- How can I know that you’re the right photographer for me? Your photographer is with you for the whole day, and it’s important to get to know them. A chat over the phone or a meeting at my studio is the best way for you to see if we’re a good fit.
- Can I contact some of your past clients to see what its like working with you? Yes, there are contact details in my ‘love notes’ testimonials page.
- Ok, I’m ready to book a photographer, can I call you? I’d love to hear from you about your wedding plans, you can call or email me at the studio:
